Panama Canal & Lake Gatun Nature Experience

Lake Gatun is a man made lake, created during the Panama Canal construction. When the Chagres River levels rose, several artificial islands were also created. These islands, both large and small, protect many wildlife species which have been living there for many years.

It is a very easy and comfortable experience for everyone who loves nature, creatures, birds, mammals to take a boat ride around these biodiverse islands. At the same time, you can ride inside the 8th wonder of the world – the Panama Canal! And there’s a good chance that you’ll see a ship transiting on it, or take great pictures of a big ship riding close to our boat.

Our country has a lots of national parks but none like Soberania. At Soberania, visitors can experience, see and photograph many endangered species found living on islands as Capuchin, Whouler, and Titi. You have a chance to see birds and reptiles that are difficult to see in other national parks.

After our boat ride on the canal we will slowly walk the old Pipeline Road. This road was originally built to send oil from its entrance in middle of the Canal north to the Caribbean side during WW2. It was never used, but it is an open, easy to walk road that’s 25 miles long. It’s not paved, but it’s an easy walk. We spend about an hour, enjoying sightings of mammals, birds, reptiles and what ever nature offers this day.
